Fencers with rating C09
At Cornell: Captain of Men’s Epee Team 2004, Captain of Epee squad 2002-2004, Graeme Jennings award 2002. 2nd place Epee Individual, 1st place Epee Squad, and 1st place Men’s 3 weapon team at National Collegiate Club Fencing Championships in 2004. 2nd place Epee Individual at MACFA 2004. A lot of other lesser awards.
Prior to Cornell: Matt fenced foil for 2 years at the Virginia Academy of Fencing. VAF retains the ignominious honor of suggesting that he fence with his right hand even though he was ambidextorous. Luckily, Cornell’s fencing team was around to train Matt how to really fence and to encourage him to switch to lefty.
Personal: Matt now lives in Arlington Virginia, right outside outside of Washington DC. He’s a senior developer for a small online marketing company named Datran Media which is located in Reston VA, and New York City (and which is always looking to hire smart, enthusiastic grads), and is involved in the Ethical Culture movement. He looks back fondly on his days with the team and is always excited for the annual fencing alumni banquet.
