Also a volunteer assistant coach for the Women’s Varsity team, Jeremy is currently working on his doctorate in Chemical Engineering. As a graduate student, he is ineligible to compete in MACFA, but is a welcome addition to the foil squad at the USACFC championships, which he has fenced each year since his arrival at Cornell. In 2008, he was a member of the bronze medal foil squad along with Longda Yin and Ethan Peck. The following year, Luterbacher along with Peck and Nick Heiner, dominated the competition and took home the foil squad gold medal. Luterbacher went undefeated on the second day of competition, earning a record of 16-0.
Luterbacher has competed on the Swiss and international level since 1993. He achieved a ranking of sixth in the national Swiss senior category and placed second at the Swiss national university championships during the 2005-06 season. Prior to that, Luterbacher was the top-ranked Swiss junior fencer and placed second at the Swiss junior nationals in 2004. During his time as a junior fencer, he participated in four junior world cups and three international cadet tournaments.
Luterbacher graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and chemical engineering, before continuing at SFIT for a master’s degree in chemical engineering. He is now working on "depolymerizing" fictitious "biomass" or some other such witchcraft.

At a MACFA meet at Haverford in 2009, he clinched the 14th bout against William and Mary in what otherwise could have been a 13-14 loss. Leading the epee squad last season with a highly respectable .600 record, Angel went 30-20. Studying abroad in Fall 2009, he returned in the spring of his junior year and went 14-4 at our third scheduled MACFA meet, for a season record of .778.

Prior to Cornell: MJ started fencing his freshman year at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. Although he had no prior experience with the sport, he quickly got absorbed in fencing and became a starting member of the Saber squad his freshman year. MJ led the Lawrenceville fencing team his senior year and received The Sieja Fencing Trophy. After Lawrenceville, he fenced as the second alternate for one semester at Boston College while he had a guaranteed transfer to Cornell.
