Fotinatos has been fencing for over six years under the tutelage of Stanislav Gutkovskiy, competing actively in the NJ division and North American Cup tournaments. Rated in all three weapons, he currently is a B in foil, C in saber, and E in epee.  At Cornell, he posted a .745 MACFA record in his freshman season, the second best on the team. Despite it being his secondary weapon, he fenced saber at the 2009 USACFC championships and finished 7th in the individual event.  As a sophomore, he served as a co-captain and saw great success as a member of the foil squad.  Placing 21st at the Penn State Garret Open, he qualified for the third round of pools and recorded the highest finish for any non-varsity fencer at the event.  At the MACFA championship tournament, he placed 3rd in individual foil and was a member of the gold medal foil squad, edging out six varsity teams and five club teams for a 1st place finish.  At the 2010 USACFC event, he once again qualified for the individual round, this time placing fifth in foil.

Prior to Cornell, he fenced on the Northern Highlands Regional High School varsity team for four years, serving as captain as a junior and senior. Winning two Squad District Championships in 2007 and 2008, and a District Individual Championship in 2008, Fotinatos was named 1st Team All-County, 1st Team All-League, and 2nd Team All-State.

Mike will serve as Captain for the 2010-2011 season, and thanks his parents and Cornell Alumni for their continued support.  He is in a constant battle with obesity, and hopes that he will fit into his lame next semester.
