Coach's Updates

September Newsletter

Dear Alumni, Friends, and Family of Cornell Fencing,

As the colder weather approaches, Cornell Fencing is already well into pre-season conditioning and practices. We have an exciting group of first-year men and women, and they have all jumped head first into training, team bonding, the Thankathon, meeting with sports nutritionist Alyssa Harrington, and getting to know our new strength and conditioning coach Chris Van Alstyne. We are also looking forward to our upcoming bonding day: our whole team will be tackling the low and high ropes courses with Cornell Outdoor Education. Don’t worry, the coaches are doing it too, so you can look forward to lots of great pictures in a future update.

The NCAA schedule is now complete! We are still waiting on the complete MACFA schedule for the men, and we will release it as soon as it is finalized. I hope to see many of you cheering for us on the sidelines if any of our meets are close to you. I am especially excited to announce that we are hosting the 2023 Ivy League Championships, and we will be hosting a Friends and Alumni reception at the Hall of Fame Room (Schoellkopf Hall) on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 6-8 PM. It will be an amazing chance to reunite with teammates, visit Cornell, and see the team in action! In the meantime, please mark your calendars for the following meets:

11/13/2022 Vassar 9 AM-4 PM, Men and Women
11/19/2022 UPenn 9 AM-4 PM, Women

Please keep an eye on your email, Brightcrowd and the Cornell Fencing Facebook and Instagram pages for results, pictures, athlete spotlights and more!

As always, we could not offer this incredible student-athlete experience without your generosity. Thank you to everyone for your support of this very special team.

All the best, and Go Big Red!!

Sincerely,
